Expanding the Conversation: Software, AI, and Wellness with Chris Minn

At this year’s PRINTING United Expo, Eye on Display’s Jack Gocher caught up with Chris Minn, CEO & Founder of Digital Ink, to discuss three topics driving the future of our industry – software, AI, and wellness.

The full interview is well worth a read, but the themes resonated deeply with our team. So, we wanted to take a moment to expand on them – and share how they continue to shape the way we approach marketing, technology, and people at Digital Ink.

Software – the real engine behind modern print

Too often, print businesses still treat software as a bolt-on – something that supports the press, rather than drives it. But the truth is, software is now the press’s power source.

“Without software, there is no industry.”
Chris Minn – CEO & Founder, Digital Ink

That belief forms the foundation of what we do at Digital Ink. Beyond traditional marketing, our focus is technical marketing – aligning brand, workflow, and go-to-market strategy so that technology and creativity work in sync.

Through our partnership with Smart Elephant, we help printers get the most out of their systems – from web-to-print storefronts and product builds to API integrations and automation. In Chris’s words:

“We add the strategy. We add the creative. We add the go-to-market energy. Ultimately, what we look at is selling the solution.”

AI – smarter workflows, not scarier ones

Artificial Intelligence is no longer theoretical. It’s practical, usable, and already transforming how print businesses operate.

Working with Smart Elephant, we’re embedding AI into marketing and workflow automation, helping PSPs connect data from every touchpoint and make better, faster decisions.

It’s not about replacing people – it’s about augmenting teams with insights that free them to focus on strategy, sales, and customer experience.

As Chris said in the interview, it starts with two simple questions:

“Is your sales funnel healthy?”

“And are you using your software or web-to-print platform correctly?”

Sh*t for Brains – changing how print talks about wellbeing

We also loved that Eye on Display highlighted Chris’s other passion project – Sh*t for Brains – a mental health and wellness initiative co-founded to support professionals in the print and creative industries.

The concept started with an honest conversation at Dscoop and has grown into a network offering confidential, facilitated sessions with mental health professionals.

Chris said it best:

“As an industry, we often say, ‘Yeah, things are good,’ but actually – are they?”

Each session aims to help at least one person who’s struggling with the pressures of business ownership, leadership, or life behind the scenes. And it’s working. The response from the community has been immediate and powerful.

Big thanks again to Jack Gocher and the Eye on Display team for shining a light on this important conversation. You can read the original piece here.
